Corrupted-Oil Jerry
2003
Print on Canvas

In this artwork, Banksy has taken an existing painting, likely purchased from a second-hand store, and painted over it the motif of Jerry from the children’s cartoon, Tom and Jerry.
The original painting features an idyllic landscape. Houses are tucked away behind verdant trees and boats sit peacefully in the still water.
The work was first seen in one of Banksy's first major exhibition Turf War* in 2003.
* "Turf War" was the first major exhibition by artist Banksy, staged in a warehouse on Kingsland Road in London's East End in 2003.
