Incident Board
2005

Print on Canvas

banksyqr 450x2906.jpg

This artwork belongs to Banksy’s widely celebrated series, the “Crude Oils Exhibition, 2005”. This series called Modified Oil Paintings.

In these hijacked traditional oil paintings, the artist inserts his iconic stencil figures into Old Masters works which he’s buying from flea markets. And he tackles relevant issues and formulates sharp social commentary through subversive humor.

In this painting he places an incident board in the forest.

Crude Oils featured 20 versions of classical oil paintings, re-invented by the artist. The show was also populated by around 200 live rats and featured some unique accompanying sculptures. This “Gallery of re-mixed masterpieces, vandalism and vermin” ran for around a week in a small shop in Notting Hill, London.
