Morons
2006

Numbered Screen-print

banksyqr 450x2906.jpg

Created in 2006, this print captures the scene of an auctioneer conducting a sale in a crowded room, initially showcased at Banksy's renowned exhibition, Barely Legal, held in Los Angeles. Titled "Morons, or I can’t believe you morons actually buy this shit," the artwork reflects Banksy's perspective on the art market and auctions.

Through this piece, Banksy offers commentary on the commercialisation and commodification of art. It highlights the disparity between his original street art and its transformation into a marketable commodity, raising questions about the true nature and purpose of his work.

In 2007, Morons (sepia) released as a limited edition of 300 signed prints by Banksy's UK-based printer, Pictures of Walls, further expanding the reach and accessibility of "Morons".
