Rude Copper
2002
Print on Paper

One of the artist's earlier works, Rude Copper, is a monochromatic stencil that shows a British cop giving the middle finger. His position and perspective of the image give the feeling of a really close and personal encounter.
This piece was also made as a silkscreen print with a total of 200 unsigned pieces.
This is Banksy’s very first commercial print, released in 2002. Like the name implies, it is quite a provocative piece with an elaborate depth of field, in which the extended hand making the rude gesture takes center stage.
