Trolley Hunters
2006
Numbered Screen-print
‘Trolley Hunters’ portrays a hunting scene where animals are replaced by supermarket trolleys. Primitive men with spears face the trolley, appearing still but defiant. It prompts us to question our consumption habits and how we acquire our essential food resources, as well as our role as providers.
Compared to another work; ‘Sale Ends Today’, ‘Trolley Hunters’ is more sympathetic towards consumers, granting them power and free will instead of portraying consumerism with a religious fervour. Originally released as part of Banksy's Barely Legal show in 2006, the print was unsigned and limited to 500 copies. While a few signed prints from the LA Edition exist, they were not made available for general sale.
